Alright, so with the recent release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, the front page has had a few flashes lampooning the characters that appear in the game. My ratings thus far are as follows:
Iron Man: 10
Wolverine: 9
Deadpool (RandomFilms): 8
Captain America: 7
Megaman: 6
Hulk: 6
She-Hulk: 5
Amaterasu: 3
Deadpool (MegaPwnage09): 0
Now, although I've left reviews for each of them in turn, I noticed that the pattern to my ratings focused upon the satirical quality of the videos, by which I mean how true they remained to the characters whilst lampooning them. For instance, Iron Man is in fact a fairly egomaniacal playboy drunkard, so JohnnyUtah's take on him (though focused on the playboy part) ended up being both hilarious and truthful. Wolverine acted like a tough bastard and spoke crudely like he was supposed to, but had an element of being a pathetic loser because of the part-time job at Best Buy and the belly. Even RandomFilms take on Deadpool was fairly accurate, with references to breaking the fourth wall, selling out, and talking with his inner-monologue boxes.
As we move down the list though, the videos seemed to go from being satirical to just being spam, which is particularly clear with Amaterasu and MegaPwnage09's Deadpool. Neither one really incorporates anything about the characters themselves, and opt instead to go with Nazi and 9/11 references, which we can find in pretty much any random spam submission.
Still, all this manages to do is reveal that I hate spam and enjoy clever videos with quality animation, which is as unique as a woman giving birth to a two-eyed baby. But if there's one positive thing about spam, it's that without them my NG ranking would be significantly lower. So thank you all you spammers out there for providing easily blammable targets for the viewers. Newgrounds just wouldn't be the same without you. Better maybe, but definitely not the same.
